Call for Data: Fatty Acid Composition of Bovine Milk

Deadline: 15 July 2026, 11:59 pm (CET)

The World Health Organization (WHO) invites the submission of global data on the fatty acid composition of bovine milk samples, with a particular focus on butyric acid (C4:0) and trans-fatty acids (TFAs).

Data submissions from all countries are welcome and will support WHO’s work on improving guidance for assessing TFAs in foods.

Scope of requested data

  • Primary interest: whole milk (bulk tanker or retail-derived)
  • Anhydrous milk fat and whole milk powder (if available)

Analytical requirements

Fatty acid composition should be determined using one of the procedures described in the full call for data.
